The process of remediation of a contaminated site is divided into 5 basic steps:
1The first step is the so-called Characterization Plan : a technical staff will be responsible for reconstructing in minute detail the production activities of the historical site in question. This survey is aimed at investigating the definition of the environmental status of the soil/subsoil and groundwater.
At this stage Idratech engineers work closely with the technicians of local authorities.
2The second phase – devoted to the analysis – is represented by two fundamental points:
Analysis of health risk/environment(provided by the above mentioned Legislative Decree 152/06): most advanced tool of decision support in the management of contaminated sites as it allows, in quantitative way, to assess the risks to human health related to the level of contamination of environmental matrices of a site.
Conceptual model of the site in questionthat can provide a modeling of the flow of contaminants that comes as close as possible to reality.
Idratech identifies and elaborates on this “model” three main elements: the source of contamination, the migration paths of pollution (through environmental matrices) and the targets / receptors of contamination of the site and its boundary.
3In the third step we proceed to the design of drainage works and commissioning of operational safety.
Specifically Idratech offers its assistance in the remediation, design of works by MISE (emergency safety measures) and the works of MISOP (formal operational security).
Idratech is able to provide technical assistance for remediation “on-site” produced directly in the contaminated area and “off-site” through the removal of polluted soil and stored in special treatment areas. Idratech also helps the customer to choose the best available technologies by accurate analysis of costs / benefits.
4The fourth phase is realized in the execution of pilot testing and implementation of the proposed works.
5This brings us to the fifth phase and implementation of monitoring plans carried out by trained technicians with instruments suitable for the environmental matrices involved.
At this stage Idratech performs specific checks: groundwater, soil and subsoil.
Monitoring sites
Because of the experience gained in environmental projects and processes, Idratech company is among the most competent in the field activities and among the best qualified with regard to service quality
This is why operational activities are accompanied by a software system for collecting and analyzing environmental data on IT platforms developed from the same Idratech. This tool is a significant added value for our customers, who can access the application via the Internet / intranet to query the central database and make use of a statistical processing that allow you to monitor its evolution over time.
The main applications are those related to monitoring of:
- Wastewater treatment;
- Field measurements (soil and subsoil);
- Sampling (water, soil, air);
- Contamination (hydrochemical, laboratory analysis, etc.)
- Pumping.
With appropriate security mechanisms, the systems are accessible only by authorized users.
Computer storage
All Idratech operational activities are accompanied by a system of collection and analysis of enviromental data in computer platforms created internally. This tool is a significant added value for our customers, who can access the application via the Internet / intranet to query the central database and make use of a statistical processing that allow you to monitor its evolution over time.
Idratech has developed specific skills in GIS (Geographic Information System), a branch of computer science that combines the information on the territory with geographically referenced data.
Due to a hardware and software infrastructure tailored to the needs of our customers can realize Idratech territorial models aimed at obtaining:
- The characterization of sites,
- The representation of information intended for environmental projects;
- Integration with data of territorial importance.
